Little Helpers
My little girl loves to help. It doesn’t matter what I am working on, I can be washing dishes, folding laundry, cooking, or cleaning. She wants to be right in the middle of it. All three of my boys were the same way. Especially around the age of four. The thing is, four year old kids aren’t really that helpful. Am I right? So why is it so important to encourage our little helpers?
My kids range in age from four to twenty. Over the years I have learned a few things (or maybe more) about encouraging my little ones to be a part of my everyday routine. Kids want to help. They are naturally curious about you and what you are doing. We need to encourage that! I have found that when I will take the time to show my little one how to fold a wash cloth or let them help scrub the toilet they feel a sense of accomplishment. They learn to keep trying, even when things are a little bit hard. Plus we get lots of opportunities for positive reinforcement instead of spending all day redirecting behaviors that are less desirable.
Recently I discovered how to boil eggs in my Instant Pot. Peeling eggs is one of my least favorite things, but using this tutorial, I have found it to be super easy. I let my little girl peel as many as she wanted and they came out perfectly. She was so happy to be moms little helper and she was so proud of herself that she did it! What are some things that your little ones like to help with? I would love to hear from you and learn more ideas of things to do with my little one. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
